The federal government has condemned the gun attack that killed 18 people and injured several others in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

At least eight foreigners and seven locals were among those killed in Sunday’s evening attack on the Aziz Istanbul cafe.

Two attackers were killed in a siege which lasted into the morning.

The foreign affairs ministry said it received the report with great sadness and condoled with the victims of the heinous terrorist act.

In a statement by its acting spokesperson, Jane Adams, the ministry said Nigeria would continue working closely with peace loving countries to combat terrorism globally.

"We strongly condemn terrorist acts against civilians and reiterate our resolve to continue working in concert with peace loving countries to eradicate the scourge in all its manifestations,” it said.
