Nigeria experiencing reduction in COVID-19 cases, deaths – FG

Nigeria is experiencing a reduction in COVID-19 cases and deaths, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has said.

He said this in Abuja Wednesday during the ministry’s bi-weekly COVID-19 update.

He, however, stressed that this did not mean the COVID-19 pandemic had gone away from the country but has only slowed down.

He said: “Nigeria at the moment is in a lull with reduction in infection rate and the fatalities. We’re still watching closely as we’ve seen re-emergence that has surprised people in other countries.”

He said the experience of other countries in Europe and China told Nigeria that there could be a flare up of COVID-19 at any time.

He said: “We must therefore refrain from non-essential crowd, and if it has to happen we must apply non pharmaceutical measures like wearing facemasks, washing hands, sanitizing and being careful with our interactions.”
