Malam Dabo, owner of the Dabo Fashions outfit and one of the organizers of the auspicious event noted that indeed his nation had everything to celebrate after 46 years of relative peace and stability. He noted that the fashion parade and celebration of the nation’s culture was just a way of bringing to the notice of the world the rich cultural values held by Gambians irrespective of where they reside anywhere in the world. Also to him the event equally gave an opportunity for all the Gambian nationals who reside in the FCT and other parts of Nigeria to share together in their moment of national celebration.
The Gambian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mrs Angela Colley extended the courtesy and appreciation of her government to the government and people of Nigeria adding that the support given over the years had gone a long way in assisting her nation. “Nigeria and Gambia have no physical or social borders.
Several Nigerian members of staff working with the Gambian embassy were given awards at the event for sterling performance and devotion to duty. The event was attended by diplomats from various embassies in Nigeria and officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Nigeria, many of whom brought goodwill messages.
