She spoke in Abuja at the closing ceremony of Girl Enterprise Programme where 180 female secondary school students in Abuja were trained on computer appreciation and other science related skills.
She said with the way youth are now taking to sciences, Nigeria is on its road of becoming an industrialised nation.
According to her, statistics have also shown that female students are now becoming more interested in becoming scientists than before.   
Speaking with Daily Trust shortly before certificates were given to the students at the ceremony, the National Coordinator of a Non Governmental Oganinsation, Junior Achievement Nigeria, Franca Thomas said that the Girl Enterprise Programme (GEP), which was sponsored by MasterCard Co with the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Agency for Science and Technology as the implementing partners, would reduce unemployment rate in the country.
Thomas also said the students were trained on how write business plan, how to carry out research, funding, financial management and skills acquisition.
They were equally empowered on makeup artistry, bead making computer appreciation and pastry making, she said.
According to her, 250 were trained in Lagos, 180 in Abuja and 120 in Port-Harcourt.
