He said NAPEP and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) are into vocational programmes that would lead many out of poverty.
The Coordinator, who made the remarks yesterday in Abuja at the 2013 KOICA Alumni seminar, noted that Nigeria is one of the most fortunate among the 15 African countries which have benefitted from KOICA support over the years.
KIOCA’s Program Officer Ms. Hannatu Ibrahim Tsafe said between 1991 and 2012, the organisation in Nigeria sent 611 government officials for various vocational training in Korea.
She said the training are in the area of health, education, public governance and administrative capacity, agriculture and rural development, economic development, vocational training and education, transportation, information  and communication technology, waste management and disaster relief and oil and gas, industry, energy and fisheries.
Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, Secretary to the Kogi State government, who represented the State governor, Idris Wada said the state benefitted immensely from some of these capacity development programmes over the past two years saying  “our partnership with KOICA is paying off handsomely and our people are the better for it.”
He said the agency has brought relief to some farmers in the state through the provision of five rice mills after the flood that ravaged nine out of the 21 local governments in the State which left about one million people devastated.
