The Secretary-General of the Organisation, Ambassador Maria Leissner, made the disclosure during her visit to Nigeria where she met the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs I, Prof Viola Onwuliri, in Abuja.
The CD is an intergovernmental coalition of states established in 2000 to bring together governments, civil society and private sector in the pursuit of the common goal of supporting and strengthening democratic rules, norms and institutions around the world.
Leissner also expressed the community’s support for Nigeria in its fight to end terrorism in the country.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs I, Prof Onwuliri, said Nigeria is committed to democratic course and that her visit would help to strengthen the country’s resolve to democratic norms.
