NATCOMS President Chief Deolu Ogunbanjo gave this advice in an interview with Daily Trust.
He said with the increasing number of subscribers in the various networks it has become necessary for the telecom operators to erect more infrastructures to meet the challenges that often lead to poor quality of services.
“Low tariff also increased the number of call frequency; hence the present base stations cannot accommodate effective services. With additional base stations to accommodate the volume of voice calls, I believe that all telecoms operators will further reduce their tariffs,” he said.
He noted that the telecom operators still face the challenges of deployment of base stations and urged government to provide lasting solutions to them.
The NATCOMS President said despite paucity of BTS, hundreds of base-stations were vandalised in 2013, adding that federal government should accord telecoms infrastructure National Infrastructure status.
