A former Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau, says Nigeria cannot achieve security without having certain standards of national development.
He said this in Abuja Monday at the 14th and 15th International Conference and General Assembly of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) tagged ‘Peace and Security in the Wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic’.

Danbazzau, who is also a former Chief of Army Staff, said: “Peace is central to the society, peace is very important and that’s what we’ve been fighting to get in this country for over 60 years of independence.
“If we want to develop as a nation, then we must have well-grounded peace and ensure that the environment is secured. Nobody will want to invest in an environment that is not secured.”
A former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega said organisations and associations like the SPSP contributing to peace were needed.
President, SPSP, Nathaniel Danjibo, said the conference was organized to enable scholars, practitioners, policy makers and analysts to discuss the impact and effect of COVID-19 in relation to national security and make recommendations.
