Nigeria not ready for technological advancement – Prof Akanji

Dearth of funding for universities of technology is a clear indication that Nigeria is not ready for the technological advancement of the country, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, FUT, Minna, Professor Musbau Akanji, has said.
Professor Akanji disclosed this in a press conference organized by the State Correspondents Chapel of the NigeriaUnion of Journalists, NUJ, Niger State Chapter, in Minna.
He said that lack of funds was the major challenge facing universities of technology in the country.
“Nigeria is not ready for the technological advancement due to lack of funding of universities of technology”, he said.
According to him, the establishment of specialized universities like universities of technology and universities of agriculture is a welcome development.
He said the gesture was in the right direction but he insisted that more funds should be spent should Nigeria desired to achieve science and technological advancement.
