In fact, for those who have been following the news, former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently hinted that something similar to what we saw in the North African countries may likely be replicated here in Nigeria, except the government wakes up. Obasanjo based his argument on the joblessness among the country’s millions of youths.

Many important personalities at one time or the other had not rule out revolution in Nigeria. But still there are some cynics who think that only jokers and day dreamers think of a possible revolution. These people have their own reasons for thinking that revolution is not possible in Nigeria. The reasons include ethnic and religious differences of the would-be revolutionaries. To me, these people are wrong. Ethnic or religious differences will never stop revolution when it comes. Let us critically examine the factors that usually trigger a revolution in a country and see where Nigeria stands:

First, the injustice we are facing in Nigeria is not peculiar with a section of the country, it is everywhere. The lack of justice is a national malaise which is ubiquitous. So those who crave for justice in the country cut across ethnic, geography and religion, thus, nothing can divide them from getting justice.

Another factor that may provoke revolution in a country is moral decadence .This again is a national problem. Moralists will do everything possible to ensure that people have become upright. Both Islam and Christianity admonish moral uprightness. Other factors include economic hardship, inequality, lack of freedom and political shenanigan all these calamities are ubiquitous among the diverse people of Nigeria. They are most fundamental questions begging for answers. All right thinking Nigerians will do everything possible to fight for the total solutions of these issues. So, those who think revolution is not possible are totally wrong. We are only waiting for the right time.

Furthermore, the other groups are those who think there are no more leaders who will lead the revolution. Are these people saying that good people have finished in Nigeria? Still there are people of impeccable character; people whose integrity can stand any scrutiny and test. These people are everywhere, and they are ready to sacrifice their lives so that their younger generation will not be made to suffer the way they did.

Therefore, Nigerians should begin to think in terms of revolution if our so called leaders will not do what is right. The proportion of moral decadence in the country is alarming. The level of corruption and self aggrandizement is monumental, while the quest for materialism is at its peak. We should be ready to reclaim our country when the time comes.
