Nigeria, Pakistan seal deal on counter-terrorism

Minister of State (II) for Foreign Affairs Nurudeen Mohammed said this at the State House in Abuja yesterday after the bilateral talks held by President Goodluck Jonathan and his Pakistan counterpart, Mamnoon Hussain.
Our correspondent reports that the Pakistan president was on a state visit to Nigeria.
Nurudeen said Nigeria and Pakistan agreed to deepen cooperation in the field of defence and security as well as strengthen cooperation on counter-terrorism, maritime piracy and combating organised crimes.
The minister said both countries also resolved to cooperate to contain the menace of insurgency and terrorist activities.
According to him, both countries agreed that as members of the United Nations and other international organisations, they would continue to strengthen cooperation with these organisations to promote international peace and security
He said Jonathan and his visitor signed bilateral agreements on poverty reduction, human resources development, environmental protection, financial and agricultural cooperation, industrial cooperation, cultural exchange programmes, commerce and industries, among others.
