Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, Prof. Mohammed Haruna, says NASENI is collaborating with partners from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Czech Republic and Italy to equip the six Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institutes in Nigeria (AMEDI) with state-of-the-art research and manufacturing facilities targeting the best and the highest technology in the world.

He said this in Lafia, Nasarawa State, at the weekend while conducting the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, round the AMEDI being constructed by NASENI.

He said the needed machines for the AMEDI, Lafia, would soon be available and that the institute would be inaugurated in January 2023.

“The yardstick of measuring the willingness and readiness of Nigeria to transit from a community-based economy to a manufacturing economy is the degree to which NASENI’s role is applied to all aspects of our socio-economic endeavours.

“It’s not magic, but scientific. It was the method and it remains the only solution utilised by the developed world and the Asian tigers,” Haruna said.

Gambari said the federal government decided to build the AMEDI, Lafia because of its commitment to guaranteeing food security across the nation.

He said the institute would soon become a centre of excellence that would enable Nigeria to become a hub for agro-allied technologies.

He urged Nigerians to tolerate and embrace one another and work towards the peace, unity and development of the country.
