Nigeria Police: Be law abiding and don’t be used again?

In furtherance of that objective, some billboards and newspapers advertorials by the IGP have been strategically located with the aforementioned inscription; and at least one example can be seen adjacent to the famous Transcorp-Hilton Hotel, Abuja. But do the police have moral right to admonish others to obey the law considering many instances of deliberate breaches of the same extant law?  For example, the police were used in the abduction of a sitting governor of Anambra state some years ago. They were also used recently in the vain attempt to unseat the Speaker of the National Assembly.
In addition to that, many acts that are clearly partisan were committed by Mbu Joseph Mbu, erstwhile commissioner of police in River state. These are some of the strong cases against the police! The same police force was used to scuttle many civil demonstrations by civil society groups, students, market women and pensioners against government high-handedness and negligence.
And to further buttress the point, the force is currently under investigation over  the brutal killing of an internationally acclaimed Professor of Agriculture, Professor Ahmad Mustapha Falki, under the guise of fighting Boko Haram and in circumstances that are both pathetic and unbelievable.
So, how can the police that so often abdicated its constitutional responsibility to the nation in favour of serving some selfish interest of desperate politicians, be admonishing others to comply with the same law? It doesn’t add up here, Mr. Inspector General.  In other words, the IGP must ensure that the  force remain answerable to the public only; law abiding,  impartial, professionally sound, and should not be used henceforth to cause trouble in the fourth coming election and beyond!
