The Minister of State Petroleum (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, says the country now has capacity to render logistics services to the oil and gas industry across Africa due to the introduction and proper utilization of the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund which gives indigenous firms the needed supports.
Speaking during the celebration of growth and impact by TAMROSE Limited, an indigenous marine logistics and offshore support company at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Thursday, Lokpobiri also commended TAMROSE Limited for the effective utilisation of the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund to expand its operations.
He expressed delight that the partnership between NCDMB and TAMROSE is yielding the expected dividends, adding the NCDMB through the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund will continue to make funds for indigenous companies boost their operations.
He said: “This fund was created for a specific purpose to strengthen the local capacity not only to service the oil and gas industry in Nigeria but also to service oil and gas industry in the continent of Africa.
“That is why I am happy that TAMROSE Limited has moved beyond the shores of Nigeria to render logistics services to the oil and gas industry across the continent of Africa.”
Speaking earlier, Executive Chairman of Tamrose Limited, Ambrose Ovbiobe, said the company’s success story would not be possible without the unquantifiable support of the NCDMB through the NCIF leading to phenomenal growth.
He said: “Between 2019 to 2025, Tamrose expanded its operations from a modest fleet of four vessels to fifteen modern offshore support vessels. This remarkable growth was achieved through a combination of strategic investment, operational efficiency and the support of NCDMB via Nigerian Content Intervention Fund.”
Also speaking, Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr Felix Omatsola Ogbe, said that Nigeria can control the sector if people placed confidence in indigenous talent, Nigerian ownership, and the capacity of our people.
