A record 288 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed on Friday, bringing Nigeria’s total to 5,445. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control said 179 of the cases were in Lagos, and 20 in Kaduna. A total 1,320 people have been discharged after treatment but 171 have died.

Five cases reported on May 14–four from Plateau and one from Akwa Ibom–are repeat cases.
“Therefore Plateau has a total of 21 cases and Akwa Ibom has a total of 16 cases,” NCDC said.
“We apologise to these State Governments for this error and remain committed to ensuring accurate reporting.”
