The Executive Director/ CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Nonye Ayeni, has announced that the NEPC has been selected as the only Business Support Organisation in Africa to advance digital trade for women exporters.
Ayeni made the disclosure in Abuja on Wednesday at a workshop tagged “Leveraging Online/Digital MarketPlaces to Increase Nigeria’s Share in the Global Market.”
She said, “In line with NEPC’s commitment to inclusive digital trade, I am proud to inform you that NEPC was the only Business Support Organisation (BSO) selected in Africa for the Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) initiative, which was launched last year.
“This strategic initiative by WTO/ITC was launched in February last year and aims to accelerate the participation of women-led businesses in digital trade by equipping them with the tools, training, and support needed to succeed in the global digital economy.

“Through WEIDE, NEPC is working directly with women-led SMEs to improve their digital capabilities, enhance product visibility on global platforms, and build competitiveness in line with international best practices. This initiative complements our broader digital trade agenda, which includes onboarding SMEs onto recognised marketplaces, supporting digital branding and facilitating access to market intelligence,” she explained.
She added that with WEIDE and other targeted programmes, NEPC is laying the groundwork for a digitally enabled, inclusive export environment where no capable entrepreneur, especially women, is left behind.
