Team Nigeria athletes to the on-going Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China had to pull out of the Competition following immense discrimination of its athletes who were quarantined, isolated and barred from training alongside other athletes of the World since their arrival at the competition venue.
The athletes and their officials were directed by the National Sports Commission to leave China and head home.
Lesotho said on Friday they have pulled out of this weekend’s final 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier against Nigeria because of concerns about an outbreak of Ebola in the country.
“We have contacted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and copied the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that we will not be coming for this game,” said Lesotho Football Federation official Limtho Mokhethi.
The Senegalese officials appointed for the under-20 game have already arrived in the northern Nigeria city of Kaduna, where the match was to have been played.
In related development, The Rwanda Football Federation has written to African football’s ruling body hoping to get a cancellation of their all-important clash with the Eagles due to concerns over the Virus.
Rwanda are due to play the Super Eagles in Calabar on September 6 in the first 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Nigeria midfielder Shehu Abdullahi was reported to have been angry that among all the players of other nationalities he was singled out and tested for the Ebola virus disease in Kuwait, after his club returned from a training stint in Dubai, other players of Nigerian origin plying their trade in Europe were also reported to have suffered same fate.
