The exhibition titled; Trend: six artists single Platform examines the manifestation of icons associated with African histories as exemplified by slavery, immigration and industrial consumption through the works of 6 Nigerian artists working in diverse content, yet in concert as regards subject matter. This exhibition is an exploration of these subjects in diverse dimensions of abstraction, through installations and    photography.

The exhibition will open on the 7th of May, 2010 as part of the activities heralding the official opening ceremonies of the 2010 edition of Dak’Art and on the 9th of May the Nigerian Day event will also open alongside the exhibition at the same venue with the Nigerian Ambassador to Senegal, her Excellency Ambassador Azuka C. Uzoka-Emejulu, mni as Special Guest.

 Exhibiting artists include Burns Effiom whose installation will be on display. Ebiware Dotimi Okiy will showcase his photography of the various scenes depicting and relating to pre-colonial slave trade and present day immigration modes.

Also Kainebi Osahenye’s array of installation as well as works of prominent photographer Iroha James Uche will be highlights of the event.

Ayo Aina and Jerry Buhari will be showcasing works in installations.

The Curators for the exhibition are Prof. Tonie Okpe, Sculptor and Lecturer at the Department of Fine Art, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Simon O. Ikpakronyi, Curator and Art Historian at the National Gallery of Art, Abuja.
