Nigeria, W/Bank seek to reduce out-of-school children

The World Bank says it will work with the Federal Ministry of Education to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

This was made known by the bank’s Senior Director, Education, Mr. Taime Saavedra, during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, in Abuja. He said the visit was to get a better understanding of the challenges in education for ‘possible World Bank support.’

Represented by Acting Permanent Secretary Dr. Hussaini Adamu, the minister said a memorandum was presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC), in which several strategies would be taken to reduce the number of out-of-school children especially in the North East.

The minister then asked for more support from the World Bank to enable the ministry tackle more challenges in the education sector.
