Victor Anusa, Secretary, Nigeria Rowing, Canoe and Sailing Federation (NRCSF), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview from Maputo that the athletes would excel at the Games due to the availability of good facilities.

Anusa said that the athletes had trained well and had also adjusted quickly to the weather in Mozambique.

“We have been provided with accommodation and other basic welfare packages including training facilities to practise with,” he said.

Anusa noted that there were no health challenges facing the athletes, adding that they were determined to do the country proud.

“We have no health issues or any problem whatsoever that could hinder our performance as we look forward to our event on Sept. 4,’’ he said.

He expressed the readiness of the athletes to give their best to ensure Nigeria’s success at the Games which hold from Sept. 3 to Sept. 18.
