#NigeriaDecides: Voters reject transfer of thumb-printed ballot in Abuja

Tempers flared up at the Polling Unit 010, Asokoro, Abuja today after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials brought already thumb-printed ballot papers to a new polling unit.

Voters in the original polling unit at the former Total Filling Station, A.YA., Asokoro refused to accept continuation of voting with the already thumb-printed ballot papers inside them, ostensibly from another unit with same number in Asokoro.

Confusion began when no INEC official or material was sighted at the 010 polling unit at 9.50am. But voters were already casting their ballot from the other unit.

However, the assistant polling unit officer, Yemi Tosin attributed the situation to a mix-up in the address.

“When we were going, we saw the Total Filling Station, Asokoro and set up everything and started the voting process. When our INEC officials heard it they told us to stop that she was coming immediately that was not the right place.”
