A statement from Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) and organizers of the award said Ms. Angele Luh the Regional Information Officer for Africa at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and a member of the award jury team of 2014 ACCER awards read out the names of the finalists at Nairobi Serena Hotel, Kenya.
PACJA’s Communication Manager, Dr. Joseph Kiyimba said the overall winners will be announced on the 25th of this month. He said the award, the second in the series, attracted 309 entries received from across Africa compared to last year’s 110 entries.
PACJA co-chair Dr. Habtemariam Abate said that the ACCER Awards is in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives of building the capacity of African journalists which gave birth to African Media Alliance for Climate Change (PAMACC).
