The Cairo International Film festival is in its 33rd edition and is the biggest and oldest international film festival in the Middle East and Arab world.

Okhai, who is one of the founders of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria, is a producer, scriptwriter, director and film consultant is the Director General of the International Film and Broadcast Academy Lagos, as well as a director of the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria MCSN, and has been on the jury of many local and international film festivals.

He is also resource person on film locally and internationally and has delivered papers on the Nollywood phenomenon in various Universities and Film Festivals and consultant to on film, television production and broadcasting DeutcheWelle (Africa Dept), BBC world service Trust, Goethe Institut Lagos, The German Embassy in Nigeria, and Berlin International Film Festival, including Channels Television, Imo Television, AIT, MBI TV amongst others.

Sadly, no Nigerian film is in competition in any of the categories which is really a sad statement for the 2nd largest movie producing nation in the world.

Okhai who is the first Nigerian to head the jury of any international film festival of the cadre, “hopes to use the position to bridge the gap between our film makers and our colleagues from that part of the world.”
