With the induction, a Nigerian of Igbo extraction for the first time in Ghana can now actively be involved in the decision-making process of one of the most revered traditional institutions in the country. Eze Ohazume was installed ‘Igbo Tse’ meaning ‘Igbo King’ in the Ga language.
The Ga people belong to one of the ethnic groups that constitute modern day Ghana. They have an ancient culture and tradition that predates modern genealogy. They are usually referred to as the land lords of Accra, because historically they own the land.
Ihenetu described the investiture as a watershed that would go down in the annals of history for both the Ibos and the Gas on the one hand and the entire people of Ghana.
“Today is a memorable day, day that Ibos living in Ghana will never forget in their lives. The day our children’s children will always remember in history. The day the people of Ghana, who have welcomed us to their land, will remember in history.” He enthused.
The Eze Igbo 1 of Abuja and President -General, Association of Ezeigbo Worldwide, Eze Ibe Nwosu’s joy was indescribable as he exclaimed, “I am so happy today! Indeed my heart is so gladdened, because of what I have witnessed. I want to express my appreciation to the Ga people,” he said.
