 The Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilisation (CBAAC) says the multicultural nature of Nigeria can attract billions of  dollars annually from all over the world, if well harnessed.

Chief Ferdinand Anikwe, the Director-General made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

“The country has what it takes to attract Europeans, Americans, Asians and other races in the world through its cultures and tourism potential.

“Our culture is so rich that people from parts of the world will want to spend their money to come and experience it.

“We have everything; the wildlife, zoo, ecotourism, tourist sites and many festivals, carnivals and events that can generate billions of dollars to the country,’’ he said.

He said that the policy makers were supposed to formulate policies that would boost the history and culture of the people.

“In northern Nigeria, the Emir constituted theocracy and it served the purpose; in the South West, there was monarchical absolutism with our Yoruba brothers and consensual democracy based on consensus in the South East.

“But all these systems are not being identified by our own scholars or even integrated in the process of governance by the policy formulation organs,’’ he said

He said that the Asians blended the western civilisation with their culture and tradition to get to their present state of development.

Anikwe reiterated that the Asian strategy of development remained the best for Nigeria to emulate in the current political and socio-economic challenges. (NAN)
