The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige,  has  urged the Nigerian delegation participating at the 107th session of the International Labour Conference, holding in Geneva,  to  make meaningful  contribution to improve the nation’s labour sector  and  not  see the trip as a jamboree.  

Ngige gave this advice  at a two-day workshop aimed  at preparing the minds of Nigeria participants for the conference. 

Ngige who was represented by the Director of Human Resource of the Ministry, Mr. Ajibola Ibrahim, said this year’s conference is crucial considering the issues lined up for discussion. 

According to him, Nigeria’s participation at the 107th session of International labour conference, 2018 ILC is crucial based on the importance of items lined up for discussion at the conference, which cut across key aspects of labour administration.

The minister said it is expedient for Nigeria to develop and articulate interventions that would make meaningful and positive impact on deliberations and decisions that will be taken at the conference.  

“Our ability to arrive at common ground on all interventions will go a long way to ensure a successful outing for Nigeria. I wish to make particular reference to the technical items placed on the agenda by the governing board,” he said.
