Nigerian, Ethiopian institutions sign MoU on knowledge

The ceremony which was held at NIIA office, Lagos saw NIIA Director-General, Prof. Bola Akinterinwa and Mr Sebehat Negga, the Executive Director EIIPD, signing for both Nigeria and Ethiopia respectively.
NIIA DG said the signing of the agreement is geared towards strengthening the relationship among African countries ahead of the AU 2063 agenda.
“The African Union has an agenda slated for 2063 by which time Africa is expected to have come of age and self-reliant. So we sat down and said rather than waiting on the developed world to do things for us, why not start promoting horizontal kind of relationship among ourselves and finding African solutions to African problems. This is not in term of conflict resolution but in term of mutual help, science, diplomacy, democracy and good governance,” Akinterinwa said.
He said the MoU would afford both Nigeria and Ethiopia the opportunity of sitting, research together and also engage in transfer of knowledge and bring more research institutes so that it can lift Africa beyond what it is currently.
The EIIPD executive Director said the signing of the MoU will surely boost relationship between both countries just as he expressed optimism that the countries will make the best use of it.
