A Nigerian tech entrepreneur based in Manchester, Jennifer Okpechi, has unveiled Money Bestie, a personalised financial app created to make money management simple and accessible for everyday people — especially Nigerians and underrepresented communities who often feel shut out of traditional financial conversations.

Jennifer said the idea was born after years of hearing the same challenge repeated in different ways. Friends, colleagues, and followers of her finance content kept saying they wanted to invest but didn’t know where to begin. According to her, “I built Money Bestie to be a money companion for real people, not just the financially confident ones.”

She explained that many people genuinely want to build wealth but find existing financial tools intimidating, overly technical, or simply not built with them in mind. Money Bestie, she noted, is intentionally designed to feel approachable — more like a patient friend who breaks things down in plain English and supports you without judgment.

The app provides users with guidance tailored to their income, lifestyle, and financial habits, offering steps that match real-life situations rather than generic advice. It also simplifies investing for beginners through everyday explanations that help users feel confident instead of confused. In addition, users receive daily personalised financial affirmations to build confidence, monthly reminders to stay consistent with their goals, and easy-to-understand lessons on budgeting, saving, debt management, and investing. The platform also hosts a community space so users don’t feel like they are navigating the journey alone.

Beyond the app, the Money Bestie website serves as a learning hub filled with practical resources for people transitioning from uncertainty to financial clarity.

Jennifer said launching Money Bestie was about filling a gap and giving people the tools they have long needed. She explained that many of the app’s early users are individuals juggling multiple responsibilities, earning in different currencies, or sending money home — people who rarely see themselves reflected in mainstream finance platforms. She added that, “Money Bestie was created to help people who’ve been overlooked learn, grow, and finally build wealth with confidence.”
