Sunday Trust gathered that the Honourable Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili will preside over the event. Professor Dan Fulani, the Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Jos, will deliver the keynote address at the event that promises to draw the “A” list of Nollywood actors and actresses. The two day event starts on 18th December with convocation of the crème-de-la-crème of the licensed film distributors in Nigeria. The convention has been shifted for some time for reasons that are not unconnected with logistics inadequacies, said a source within the Board.

  Aside from the launch of the publication known as “Nollywood Confidential”, a host of distributors who had been issued with provisional licenses by the Board will receive their licenses. Sunday Trust investigations revealed that some licensed distributors are up in arms against the regulatory agency for the recent upward review of the censorship fees, which may come to play at the event.

  The NFVCB had recently reviewed the charges for censorship and classification of films by determining charges according to the length of the movie. Sources at the Board defended the review, arguing that it was in line with international best practices.

 Other dignitaries expected at the event are relevant Chief Executives of agencies, the Commissioner of Tourism, Lagos State, the Chief Executives of Lagos State and Kano State Censors Boards.
