Nigerian hospitals are death traps, group alleges

Following the recent statement credited to the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, on the state of the State House Clinic, a group known as Unified Nigerian Youth Forum has described Nigerian hospitals as death traps.

“The pronouncement by Buhari has further exposed the rot in our health sector and the reality on ground has clearly shows that if over N3.9billion  is budgeted for the state house clinic and nothing on ground to show, then our federal medical centers and teaching hospitals are death trap, because statistics shows that most public hospitals are confronted with similar challenges,” the group said in a statement signed by Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem.

He added, “Our healthcare facilities in Nigeria are completely in bad shape, the condition of service are not encouraging, government at all levels must act fast to save our lives. The failure of the governments at all levels to put a complete stop to medical tourism of all and sundry further exposed their inability to fix our health sector.”
