The British Council has awarded four Nigerian lecturers a combined sum of £24,380 (or N7,240,860) research grants through the Researchers’ Link programme to undertake various researches that meet the developmental goals of Nigeria. Drs Vincent Chigor, Anozoeze Madu of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Rowland Kayode and Temilade Sesan, both from the University of Ilorin and University of Ibadan, respectively are the awardees. The grant provides financial support for the researchers to spend up to three months in the UK as part of the Researcher Links initiative of the Council. The awardees will be supported by established researchers in the UK with proposed activity selected on the basis of mutual benefit, research quality and potential for sustained interaction. According to the British Council, the initiative encourages outward and inward mobility to enable early career researchers to make contacts internationally. The initiative encourages the involvement of social sciences and humanities researchers, as well as the natural sciences, and provides space for interdisciplinary interaction, with opportunities to bring together researchers from different fields focused on a common goal.
