It is unfortunate and unwise to see some women in Nigeria doing everything possible to change their natural situation through any means with the aim of looking more beautiful or acceptable to men. This ugly trend is been found among those type of women both the illiterate and literate, rural and urban, civilized and uncivilized, Muslims and Christians as well as across all tribes.

Nigerian Women are more beautiful and presentable if they maintained their natural creation but because of lack of sense of reasoning by some of the women, they prefer to look like white women found in the most developed countries like US, UK, etc. Our women with the exception of few are aspiring and willing to use any means available to look and have light skin, long hairs, they dress with half naked dresses, use improper cosmetics, and adorn long nails and artificial hairs, Etc.   

At times, these behaviors leads them to lose their natural black skin to half-baked mixed skin that is neither black or white or using artificial hair that is very dirty and smelling in place of their natural short, black and little but good nice looking hair.

In Nigeria today this ugly trend has gone as far as to some ministers, chief executives, university lecturers and high society women, who upon all the educational qualification, experience, exposure and civilization have forgotten the dangers and disgrace involved in changing the skin from natural black to artificial white skin or black and white with chemicalized bleaching creams.

Also the artificial hair they buy in shops with different colours and sizes, they don’t even know its source or how healthy it is to their body. Another funny and unfortunate situation is that even a small boy on the street not to talk of matured, educated or civilized men, will be able to know that this woman is only trying to deceive people or herself because the hair is not natural.

I feel ashamed and in pains whenever I see a black woman from Nigeria The truth is that, the situation is better in the North and Muslims dominated areas because it is clearly prohibited in the Qur’an and saying of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). But if you go to the South or Western part of the country, you will feel like crying or denouncing your citizenship of Nigeria because of the behavior of some women who try not only to change their natural black skin and short hair but also engage and encourage their daughters who are at tender age to carry out this ugly and unwise activity, which is against the teaching of our religion, African tradition and humanity.

May God almighty continue to prevent some of our Nigerian Women from being ungrateful to God who created them with black skin and short hair.
