Bio, who visited the Falcons at their Garden Court camp ahead of their final match in the competition on Sunday, said the team’s success had been an inspiration to all Nigerians.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Falcons face defending champions Equatorial Guinea at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton, at the Ekurhuleni municipality of Johannesburg, South Africa.

“Nigeria has been witnessing a lot of good things of recent, and this is a year of good luck for us. I and other Nigerians are really impressed with your performances so far.

“This is why President Goodluck Jonathan has asked me to express his satisfaction with the way you have displayed football artistry and the level of discipline and dedication you have displayed,’’ he said.

The minister, who told the Falcons they “have all it takes’’ to clinch the title for Nigeria’s sixth win, said the Federal Government was solidly behind the team and was planning a befitting reception for them.

“You have been champions five times before and we know that you have all it takes to reclaim it. The Federal Government is therefore solidly behind you, and we are already working in anticipation of your victory,’’ he said.

Bio, who is also the Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), said the commission’s Director-General, Dr Patrick Ekeji, was already working on plans for a befitting reception.

“You all know that President Jonathan has been known to be an appreciative person, and that is why he (Ekeji) is not here now, he is back home planning a befitting reception for you on your arrival in Nigeria with the trophy,’’ he said.(NAN)
