Nigerians dominate 2017 Koffi Addo Prize long list

Seven Nigerians in a list of 15 have made the Koffi Addo Prize for Creative Non-Fiction. Seven Nigerians in a list of 15 have made the Koffi Addo Prize for Creative Non-Fiction. They include Vivian Ogbonna, Socrates Mbamalu, Sada Malumfashi, Okwudili Nebeolisa, Ugochukwu Evans Nwankwo, Kadiri Alex, and Akpa Arinzechukwu. 

Others are Emmanuel Yew Sekyere and Ivana Akotowaa Oforifrom Ghana, Barbara Wanjala and Winnie Ochiengfrom from Kenya, Charles King, Rufaro Samanga, Godfrey E. Mishomari, and Marko Phiri (Zimbabwean).   

The panel of judges, chaired by EC Osondu, includes Angela Kintu and Panashe Chigumadzi. In a statement written in poetic form, the judges praised the continent of Africa and the works.

The Koffi Addo Writivism Prize for Creative Non Fiction is an annual award for creative non-fiction by emerging African writers administered by the Center for African Cultural Excellence.
