Nigerians dominate this year’s Writivism Short Story and Koffi Addo Creative Nonfiction Prizes longlist.

The Koffi Addo Prize for Creative Nonfiction longlist is comprised of eight stories (selected from 117 entries), 5 of which are authored by Nigerians. They include Eugene Yakubu, Frances Ogamba, Nwankwo Ugochukwu Evans, Samuel Arum, and Som Oluwatobi August Adedayo. The prize judges are comprised of a team of three judges chaired by Ghanaian novelist Ayesha Harruna Attah. The other judges are South African novelist, memoirist, poet and short story writer, Karen Jennings and Kenyan academic Dr. Christopher Ouma.

The Short Story Prize longlist is comprised of twelve stories (selected from 387 entries), six of which are authored by Nigerians. They are Chiamaka Omireh, Frances Ogamba, Godwin Uche Uwadilachi, Ifeoma Nnewuihe, Tope, and Frances Ogamba. The prize was judged by a team of three judges chaired by Ugandan novelist and short story writer, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi. The other judges are Zimbabwean writer and editor, Emmanuel Sigauke and Ghanaian publisher, blogger and activist, Kinna Likimani.

For the first time a writer, Nigeria’s Ogamba, appears on both longlists.
