Ezenwa disclosed that the Senate of the university had declared vacancy all academic positions in the institution. The positions, he said, would be advertised.
The school’s Senate had, at its 375th extraordinary meeting held last Monday, decided that academic activities in the university should resume immediately for the conclusion of the 2012/2013 Rain Semester.
Consequently, all students of the university were required to return to campus between Monday, December 2 and Friday, December 8, 2013 while Rain Semester examinations were scheduled to commence on Monday, December 9, 2013 and end on Saturday December 21, 2013.
Accordingly, all academic staff were required to proceed immediately to their respective departments to sign in for resumption of duty, not later than Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
However, the school’s ASUU branch has warned that any attempt to break its ranks would be strongly resisted by  members. A communiqué the branch issued last Monday urged members to ignore the resumption notice issued by FUTO management, adding that the branch would not engage in academic activities until the federal government committed itself to implementing the ASUU-FGN agreement. 
New Media was able to catch up with the feelings of the people on the raging matter. This is what they had to say:
Yinka Odelami: Since you’ve sacked the lecturers, who will prepare the questions, supervise the examinations and mark the scripts? The students themselves or non-academic staff?
Chuba Okoye: The Senate is for academic matters and not appointments.
Silas Abiodun Kayode: This is hilarious. It marks the beginning of the end of university education in Nigeria.
Kevin Odinachi: It’s unfortunate that the ASUU struggle has been politicised. They have made their point and the federal government has noted their demand. There is no need overflogging this strike action. President Jonathan cannot fix the ASUU demand in one year. ASUU should put him to test and watch him act.
Gideon Onwuzuruike: Yes, too much of everything is bad.
Engr. Dafe Timothy: Let us be serious for once in Nigeria. Sacking the entire lecturers and replacing them with what? Robots?
Students have been sitting idle at home for the past six months. They are calling on the federal government and ASUU to put an end to this feud. Government, ASUU and all stakeholders in the education sector should see that this disagreement is brought to its end once and for all.
