The Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI) has called on Nigerians, especially political leaders and privileged citizens, to embrace sacrifice, compassion and accountability as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement signed by its Executive Chairman, Comrade Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, the organisation congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the festival and urged citizens to reflect on the values of faith, responsibility and care for the vulnerable.

AHACCI noted that the message of Eid-el-Kabir remains significant at a time many Nigerians are facing economic hardship, insecurity and uncertainty.

“At a time when many Nigerians are struggling with rising living costs, insecurity and uncertainty, the message of Eid-el-Kabir speaks more strongly than ever about sacrifice, compassion, faith and responsibility to others,” the statement said.

The organisation stated that the season should serve as a reminder that collective sacrifice is necessary for national progress and social stability.

“This season is not only about celebration. It is also a reminder that society survives when people are willing to make sacrifices for the common good,” AHACCI said.

The group further called on political office holders, business owners and other influential individuals to prioritise the welfare of citizens.

“AHACCI therefore calls on political leaders, public office holders, business owners and privileged citizens to use this period for reflection and to place the welfare of the people above personal interest, greed and corruption,” the statement added.

According to the organisation, public confidence is weakened when resources intended to improve the lives of citizens fail to reach those in need.

“The organisation believes public trust is damaged when resources meant to improve lives are diverted while millions of Nigerians continue to battle hardship, hunger and uncertainty,” it stated.

AHACCI also encouraged Nigerians to extend support to vulnerable groups during the festive period, including widows, orphans, internally displaced persons and persons living with disabilities.

“We urge Nigerians to continue showing kindness and support to the less privileged, especially widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, persons living with disabilities and struggling families who may find the season difficult,” the statement read.

The organisation stressed that efforts toward national development must be accompanied by compassion and justice.

“According to AHACCI, the fight against corruption must go hand in hand with compassion, justice and practical support for vulnerable people across society,” the statement said.

It added that the country would make greater progress when sacrifice and accountability are embraced across all levels of society.

“As Muslim faithful mark Eid-el-Kabir, AHACCI prays for peace, unity, healing and renewed hope for the nation,” the statement concluded.
