The same concern was also voiced by the President of Nigerians in Diaspora, Malaysia (NIDO-MY) Chief James Emarievebe.
The Ambassador, who spoke to Daily Trust through the Embassy’s Counsellor (Consular and Immigration), Mr. Adeniyi Oyemade, at Kuala Lumpur, noted that the refusal of some Nigerians to properly document their stay in Malaysia is not in their best interest.
“It’s a must for all Nigerians in Malaysia to register with the High Commission.  Many are yet to respond to our request and this is affecting our data collection and planning. We need to know them for us to assist and relate with them appropriately.
“We invite Nigerians to visit us not only when they have problems but to take advantages of our consular services and let us discuss ideas that will benefit Nigerians and our host,” he said.
Also, NIDO-MY President disclosed that lack of adequate information on Nigerians in Malaysia makes it difficult for the organization to assist properly especially whenever they run into problems.
He said: “Nigerian community here is growing fast. But there are many Nigerians living in Malaysia illegally. Though many have immigration documents, when you refuse to register your presence in a foreign land with your own embassy, your official documentation is not complete.
