The sad news of actress, Angelina Jolie and actor, Brad Pitt’s divorce broke last Tuesday, with various retorts from fans of the Hollywood duo.
Court documents say they separated on September 15 citing irreconcilable differences despite being together for about 12 years and being married for a little over two years after meeting on the set of ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ in 2004.
Jolie is seeking full custody of their six children and asking the court to grant Pitt visitation.There are already some speculations that a rather unfriendly custody battle may ensue over their kids but a source close to the former couplehas said that both sides want a drama free breakup.
The divorce comes as a quite shock to many seeing that it was one of Hollywood’s highest profile marriages.
There have been rumours circulating on the internet that Brad cheated on Angelina with his French brunette co-star, Marion Cottilard. They had been shooting the film ‘Allied,’ which is based on two assassins who fall in love during a mission to kill a German official.
Many Nigerians took to social media to express their thought on the divorce. While others felt rather bummed and shocked at the break up, some others had the completely opposing views about how things panned out for the two.
On Twitter, @FalseImpression said: “I’ll never look up to any celebrity couple ever again #BrangelinaBreakup.” [sic]
@Bijaii said: “So Angie is the one filing for a divorce not even Brad? She must not have seen ‘Lemonade.’ You take that lad back my friend,” Bijaii said referring to Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ song which talks about relationships and cheating.
Another tweeter with the handle @CrankySolicitor made some humour of it tweeting: “How can you be with someone for 10 years, have a billion kids then get divorced after marrying for less than 3 years? Lmao.”
Some Jennifer Aniston fans had their fair share of the banter too.
