On Friday, the Federal Government announced a suspension of the operations of Twitter in the country.

Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, who made the announcement, accused the microblogging website of activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.

The Minister also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.

But the action of the Federal Government has triggered outrage on social media.
