Following the increasing spate of insecurity in Nigeria, Nigerians from all walks of life have sought for peace through sports.
It will be noted that the Elite Lawyers Association (ELA) in headline partnership with UFUK Dialogue and Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) launched the maiden edition of the ‘National Peace Olympics 2022’ themed ‘Fostering national peace and unity through sports and games with the closing ceremony in Abuja yesterday.
The President, Elite Lawyers Association, Solomon Ita Inang hailed the success of the event as efforts to bring peace to the country increases.
“It is been a very successful event. The main aim of the competition was achieved as youths came around to network, meet new people and showcase their talents in sports. Bringing youths together to unite the nation and in turn promoting national peace and unity,” he said.
Similarly, the Managing Director, Nigeria Tulip International Colleges, Feyzullah Bilgin highlighted the importance of sports in nation building.
“It is really important to celebrate this closing ceremony as sports is important for the young people, for intelligence and better welfare. Sports help them to socialise, improve communication skills as well as leadership skills,” he said.
In the same vein, the CEO, Niger Values Resource Ltd, Mohammed Kudu Ibrahim said youths can emulate sportsmen who used sports to move out of poverty.
