Uneasy calm in Asaba, as clusters of people surround newspaper vendors table to analyse the postponement of the presidential election.Samson Ekene, a criminologist and security expert, said, “It is so sad. I place the blame on the INEC; it is an act of incompetence. How can you announce postponement few hours before election day, presidential election for that matter. Many Nigerians have travelled far and wide to cast their votes only for this to happen. It appears something is fishy and INEC should be properly investigated.”Chukwuma Okereke says, “Actions like this are reason why there are agitations for secession across the country. It does not tell good of this country before the international community. The postponement is uncalled for, it does not project true democracy.”Mr. Collins Ovire, says, “As far as I’m concerned, the postponement was done in good faith to avoid unforseen circumstances that may lead to irredeemable crisis after the elections all over the country. Based on the reasons stated by INEC and allow elections to go on in some states, while others are not on the same page, the situation will create lacuna for rigging. The postponement indeed proved that INEC is in charge of the process and committed to free fair and transparent polls in uniformity. I will want to call on INEC to speedily rectify logistics in the states affected.”
