 Nollywood movies are generally classified into two categories; the ones that goes straight to VCS/DVDs after production and does not necessarily require extensive publicity like premieres, talk shows , interviews and the second category that actually goes through all the fanfares.

This second category is usually referred to as “Cinema” movies  probably because they are streamed on pay apps or at the Cinemas.

Even though the cinema movies are often said to have higher content, artistic and general overall quality than the former it’s not unheard off for such movies to not leave up to the hype.

In recent times the wedding Party a movie collaboration between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Koga Studios and Inkblot Productions, is touted as the cinema movie to watch.

"The Wedding Party" which was directed by Kemi Adetiba who calls herself the Bruce Lee of visuals  set a new box office record as  it  is currently the biggest opening weekend in Nollywood after grossing 36 million naira in three days.

The movie centers around a wedding as the name implies of an innocent naïve woman to a man portrayed to be a player.

The movie plot which spanned about 2 or 3 days to the actually wedding attempted to show the hurdles challenges and drama that goes on between couples, friend and family and in this situation different cultures albeit in a hilarious way.

Kemi Adetiba took to Instagram to share the news with the below caption;

“Ladies and Gentlemen… The record has been BROKEN!!! And YOU GUYS did it for us.

36million in THREE Days. Thank you TO EVERY person that took the time out, spent money to watch this film. You have no idea how overwhelmed I am right now. First feature breaks the box office record for opening weekend. God is soooooooooooooooo good!!! You guys are tooooooo amazing.”
