Africa, especially Nigeria, have not done enough to mitigate effects of climate change, the managing partner of PRIGEM Concepts, Owa Raymond, has said.
Raymond, in a statement he issued, said that measures were put in place across Western Europe to cushion effects of climate change such as flooding, erosion, landslide, storm and heat wave, decrying level of Nigeria’s preparedness against the natural disasters.
The statement said that the ratification of the Paris Agreement, which Nigeria recently did during the UNGA 71st Assembly, was a milestone which should be followed to the latter.
It urged the Ministry of Environment to spearhead climate change mitigation plans to further drive down global temperatures.
 It urged the ministry to end gas flaring, make clean (green) energy affordable and available to further drive down the GHGs emission generated from power plants and refuse dumps (landfills).
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, the statement said, calling on the ministry of environment and other relevant agencies to borrow expertise from countries like Denmark, Austria and France to bring about a cleaner environment.
