Nigeria’s security situation

It is apparent that the federal government under President Buhari is not taking the security situation in the country very seriously as it should.

The Police whose prime responsibility is to provide security of life and property, are overwhelmed and over stretched. They are unable to contain the insecurity situation, the number of our working men and women is depleted by retirements, death and other wastages including promotion to officer grades, with no replacements.

It would seem that there are more officers on the ground than members of the rank and file. Other security agencies are recruiting while the Police are not. The numerous Police Colleges are lying waste and unused.

Meanwhile there are many abled bodied men and women roaming the streets looking for jobs.

If the FG of President Buhari is serious about security, the IGP and PSC should be directed to commence recruitment of members of the rank and file in Police, NOW!

Delay will be counterproductive. While debating about state police, let us now try to swell the number of policemen and women in the junior cadre.

This is important.
