Popular Nigerian singer and social activist, Onyeka Onwenu, has warned that Nigeria is fast approaching a precipice.
She tasked the leaders to strive towards holding the country together especially for the younger ones, saying the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable.

Onwenu spoke Thursday during the virtual presentation of her memoir, “My Father’s Daughter” which details her successes, failures, exploits, growing up, among others.
She lamented that Nigeria had always been on the precipice, but God had been holding the country together.
But she said all stakeholders, especially the leaders, must be careful to thwart the present descent into precipice, adding that everybody must play his/her role to keep the country together.
According to her, “we cannot leave this place worse than what we met.”
“Every single one of us has a role to play.
“We all have a sphere of influence even a small child has a sphere of influence.
“Within that sphere of influence, what can we do to make the best better for the next person?
“What can you do for yourself, for your country and for your neighbour? You can do something.
“Mostly I am begging the leaders of this country, we are fast approaching the precipice.
“Let us be careful.
“Each time we have done so in the past, God has always pulled us back from the brink and that made us say God must be a Nigerian.
“We pray that he is able to pull us back again but we have got to help ourselves, stopping the corrupt practices, being leaders we are called to be, serving the people, leading by example, teaching our children right.”
She stated that people had got no other country to call their own if Nigeria was destroyed.
Onwenu noted that Nigeria is blessed with the richness of her culture, saying her children are proudly Yoruba and Igbos.
She however called on the federal government to stop the marginalization of the southeast, saying the region had been marginalized for a very long time.
The artist said the over 450-page book contains stories that nobody had ever heard before about her including successes, failures, musical career and other life exploits.
