The Village Square, as one of the major highlights of the show, commenced at exactly 5pm with Lolo of Wazobia FM as the main anchor. The star-studded Naija Awards, witnessed celebrated actors and actresses, film producers and comedians the likes of Ali Baba, Bob Manuel Udokwu and his beautiful wife, Patrick and Ireti Doyle, Paul Obazele, Kunle Afolayan, Funky Mallam, Agatha Amata, Muma Gee, Mr. & Mrs Sammy Okposo, among others having their fair share of roasted plantain, yam and pepper.
In the Village Square were 3 huts symbolizing the 3 major ethnic groups of Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. The Village Square was later thrown into atmosphere of fun and merrymaking as the Breakhibay Africa Entertainment came on board to treat everyone to a memorable evening.
Ngozi Nwosu and Yaw were the two unforgettable personalities guests at the event will live to remember as the comperes of the day with their rib-cracking jokes. The main hall for the presentation could not contain guests and celebrities.
In the award categories, P-Square carried the day winning two awards, namely the Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. 2face Idibia won the Best Song of the Year. Don Jazzy won the Producer of the Year award while T.K Falope, Ramsey Noah, Genevieve Nanji clinched the award for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively. Figurine emerged the Best Film of the Year.
In the football category, Vincent Enyeama, Chibuzo Okonkwo, Alaba Jonathan emerged the international footballer of the year, best home based footballer of the year male category and home based footballer of the year female category respectively.
Laface thanked everybody for being a part of history and stressed that Naija Awards has come to stay.
The dress code was Creatively Naija/Africa and the lingo was Pidgin English, which was spoken and fully embraced by all and foreigners alike.
