Nile students get $2.1m online data licenses

A software company, Cyphercresecent Nigeria Limited based in Port-Harcourt, has given licenses worth $2.1 million to students of the Petroleum and Gas Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Nile University, Abuja, for their online support software and data.

Presenting the licenses to the university, yesterday, the representative of the company, Mr. Emeka Duruzor, said the donation was part of the company’s commitment to building and developing capacity for petroleum engineering students in Nigeria.

According to him, the licenses were a major link in accessing the software for the teaching and learning of petroleum engineering even after graduation, considering the high cost and stringent procedure in the acquisition of the licenses.

In his remarks, the vice chancellor, Professor Huseyin Sert, said the licenses would allow students to train and learn the major fabrics of oil exploration and development content.

He said without the licenses, students won’t access the software for effective and efficient study in view of the excessive cost of licenses acquisition.
