Nile University to confer honorary degree on Jonathan

The management of Nile University is set to confer an honorary doctorate degree on Former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Dilli Dogo, stated this at a press conference ahead of the institution’s 13th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for Tuesday.

Dogo stated that, so far, thousands of students have graduated from the institution, adding that many of them are medical doctors already impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians.

The vice Chancellor said the institution singled out Jonathan for his exemplary leadership.

Dogo said, “At this Convocation, we’ll have the privilege and honour to honour one of Nigeria’s citizens that has defined leadership in every sphere of life. He’s a peacemaker; he’s a bridge builder; he’s a man that once said that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.  At the starting of the Convocation ceremony, Nile University shall be presenting an honorary doctorate degree to His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ibele Jonathan GCFR for his exemplary leadership.”

Dogo added that the institution is in partnership with several development partners as well as other institutions across the world.

He said, “Our degrees must fit into the expectations of every institution, everywhere in the world. Today, I’m happy to say that even our MBBS graduates here in this university are accepted across the world, General Medical Council UK has accepted Nile MBBS,  ECFMG is accepting Nile MBBS, and many more.
“And for those in the Faculty of Computing, we’ve entered into a significant and strategic MOU with AC Council University, who are the world’s top priority for cybersecurity. You’d be surprised to know that some of our students at 100 level have already been internationally certified as ethical hackers.

However, the institution officially launched Nile Business School to provide solution-based learning.

Dogo said, “The Nile Business School is strategically put up to ensure that both executives and people who want to upskill themselves in their work force can have an opportunity of doing so.

“We put together a world-class academy drawn from Oxford University and elsewhere to ensure that what we say we will do, we will do.”
