The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dayo Mobereola, has urged the Danish government to join hands with other countries of the world to end war-risk insurance placed on Nigeria-bound cargo.
The DG of NIMASA made the call against the background of a drop in piracy cases in the entire Gulf of Guinea.
Recalled that the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) had in 2023, delisted Nigeria from the list of piracy-prone countries.
Mobereola made the call when a team from the Danish Maritime Security Project visited NIMASA’s headquarters in Lagos on Thursday.

The Danish Maritime security training for Nigerian journalists was facilitated by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), which was held in November 2023.
The team is in Nigeria to review the training programme funded by the Danish government.
The DG was represented at the meeting by the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Chudi Ofodile.
